Widgets erase ‘theme’ information

How can I add widgets on my right sidebar without erasing the theme information/widgets? My them comes with links, meta, and subscribe already in the right side bar. As soon as I add widgets to the right side bar, all my previous theme information/widgets disappear. This means that I’m having to put all my widgets on the left hand side – which does not look balanced.

In Design > Widgets, where you add the widgets, above the widgets there should be a dropdown list for right or left sidebar. First select and save the widgets for one sidebar, and then select the other sidebar, and select and save the widgets for the other sidebar.

@wpvstp – Thanks for the response but I still have a problem. When I add the widgets on the right, the theme information such as links, meta, and subscribe disappear and I want them to stay. I may have posted this same question elsewhere and for that I apologize. Thanks for your response.

As soon as you add any widgets form the widgets list the default widgets do “disappear, that’s how wordpress.com works. You have to add the “gone” widgets manually from the widgets list. There’s nothing wrong, it’s just the way it is: You can either have the default widgets or select your own.

What is shown before you add the widgets is simply a sample to show you how it would look. That sample set is in most cases, not actually widgets, but just HTML representations of the widgets.

@the sacredpath and wpvstp – Thank you a whole bunch. Now I know what to do. I’m going to have to bite the bullet and manually add RSS feeds. Cheers.
