Widgets fall way down to bottom of homepage
-
I recently changed themes from that basic blue to Simpla. I have used this themebefroe, and the widgetsareusually where they belong.
For ahwile my widgets showed up fine right on the top right where they were before. But now they have fallen way down to the bottom of the page on the right, and you have to scroll way down to see them:

I have tried toggling them back and forth by subtracting and adding them again, but they’re still on the bottom.
I don’t see any code within the individual pages that seems to apply to the sidebar. And I can’t find any code that seems to apply to the template itself.
I’m not a total newbie–I could manipulate some code if I knew what and where…any solutions?
Thanks!…………….

If you put “sidebar” in the Forum Search Box, you’ll find many threads on this issue. What usually happens is you’ve got an image that’s too wide for the column (that’s why it turns up when you have a new, narrower theme). It can also happen when you’ve done a copy/paste from Word or from elsewhere on the Web, like you have here:

Also: in this post I note you’ve got a URL that is enormous:

You can make your links prettier and shorter by following the instructions here:professor raincoaster’s little lectures: WordPress 102: formatting a link

Aha!
I’m lazy …I’ve imported, copied, pasted… I don’t usually bother to use notepad to clean up the code.
I realize those URLs are huge. I know how to shorten them, but I’m from the paranoid school that doesn’t like to click blind URL’s without checking the property sheet. So I was trying to save time for other paranoid readers.
But I’ll go clean up the mess.
(And then I’ll wash the dishes)
Thanks!

You’re welcome. I’m not sure, but it’s possible those links were also a problem, which is why I recommended shortening them. Sometimes they go under the sidebar, sometimes they go over.

I think it was mainly the links. But I wish I had seen that button to clean up the code. I was using notepad to do it.
Amazing.
Thanks again.
