Widgets Gone Wild?
-
I don’t know if this is related to the new design. My template is ChaoticSoul, I use Firefox, and I just got a new hard drive in my classic Titanium Mac Powerbook G4, which might be the problem? Also, I cleared my cache before submitting this.I have one text widget for donations that is linked to paypal, and that works fine. Two widgets below that, I have a text widget with an image that has always linked people to Barnes & Noble so they can purchase my book. Tonight, I notice that when you click on the image of the book in the 2nd text widget, instead of going to bn.com, you are taken directly to the PayPal donation link. Not cool, and I have absolutely no idea how this glitsch occurred or how to undo it. Under the image (in same 2nd text widget), I also linked some verbage to the bn.com page for my book. Now, if I click on the first paragraph of text, again I am sent to the errant paypal site; though if I click on the last little bit of text, I am sent to the correct bn.com page. Getting the code into the widgets way back when was a monumental feat for me, and I did not document the many steps, but I know it was working correctly for months. Main issue now is: How can I delete the errant paypal links in the 2nd widget, when nothing in the actual widget creation box suggests that they exist? Do I need to totally remove the widgets (eek!) and start from scratch?

Hi niwotcentral,
I’ve just been looking at your page and have one suggestion that could be causing the Pay Pal problem.
It looks to me as if the initial link for the paypal donation hasn’t been closed, and is therefore continuing down the page.
ie. the
</a>is missing at the end of the hyper link. This would mean that the problem is located in the initial ‘PayPal Donation’ text widget and not in the ‘Barnes & Noble picture’ text widget.
So check the initial widget and make sure the the hyper link has been closed.
Hope this helps.

Bingo! Your royal beauty is surpassed only by your technical genius. Now my readers won’t feel that I am scamming them into donating under the guise of book-looking. The solution was considerably easier than the explanation. * deep curtsy *

I’m having probs with my widgets as well :(
Calendar, recent posts and recents comments don’t appear on my page.
I’m using the theme Rounded by Release, could that be the prob? Or might it be because wordpress has been updated?
Can someone help me?

@nisasabri, we can’t help you at all unless we can see your blog. You need to give us a link.

There’s a long thread about a widget bug. Hopefully wordpress will put a sticky note at top of forums so that people know what’s going on:

Just like nisasabri, widgets have gone missing from Front/Home page. (http://thegreenconnection.wordpress.com/), but they are showing up just fine on other pages. This just started happening today and I’ve tried switching themes.
Also, older posts on Front/Home page have gone into Italic font.
Would appreciate it.
