Widgets in blogroll only…possible?
-
Is there a way to make widgets appear only on the blogroll page, but not on other pages within your blog site? I sometimes feel limited to what I can do because the widgets take up space that I could be using for something else. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Okay the Vigilance theme does not have a template page for Links. You can create a static page and enter your Links on it manually. They will not update. You will have to do that manually as well. When I used this theme what I did was put the Links widget in the sidebar and then go to the front of the blog and copy the displayed links. Then I made a static page and pasted them in and went back and removed the Links widget.

YIKES! I completely misunderstood you the first time round. I’m so sorry. The short answer re: Vifilance is “no”. Most themes do have sidebars on every page. Only a few themes do not have sidebars when viewing single posts and pages on their own pages. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/11/12/widgets-on-pages-or-single-posts/ We have a Themes Forum and the searchbox there does have a feature filters. It’s a live demo site > see here > http://theme.wordpress.com/

So the long & short of it is…because I’m using the Vigilance theme, I can’t do what I want, correct? Guess the wait continues for the perfect theme, both in looks AND functionality.

Yes. Some themes allow you to create special types of pages, by selecting the appropriate template in the Attributes module of the page editor (note that there are a couple of themes in which those templates seem to be available but actually don’t work). http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/archives-and-links-templates/
Also as I said above only a few themes do not have sidebars when viewing single posts and pages on their own pages. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/11/12/widgets-on-pages-or-single-posts/
