widgets not appearing in list or on blog
-
Hi,
I just changed my theme from Unsleepable to Ocean Mist. On the dashboard, it says I have five widgets, but on the widget list, it says I have 0, and no widgets are showing up on my blog. Furthermore, I can’t add the five widgets that I “have”. I already tried clearing my browser cache and cookies and logging back in.
Thanks for your help.

There’s a long thread about a widget bug. Hopefully wordpress will put a sticky note at top of forums so that people know what’s going on:

@iansinke: I can see widgets in your sidebar alright. When you switch, the new theme may not acknowledge the widgets used in the previous one (depends on the pair of themes). In that case the theme displays its own small preset selection. That’s why you get the notice “0 widgets”: it means zero added by you. Once you add any widget yourself, the preset is cancelled and you take over.
BUT there’s also a widgets bug, as mentioned above.

Actually, there are _no_ widgets in my sidebar. What you see in the sidebar is the default (no-widgets) display. I’ve tried adding other widgets that I wasn’t using, to no avail.
-
OK, I fixed it. I switched back to the old theme (the widgets all magically reappeared), removed all the widgets, switched back to the new theme, added all the widgets again.

Yes! I was having the same problem as iansinke and am now a happy camper. I remove the widgets from the old theme before switching and then add them to the new theme. Problem solved.

My problem is that i have been changing themes to try out what looks good on my blog. So i apparently “left” my flickr widget on one of my previous themes.. I can’t remember which one! Is there anyway to remove all used widgets?

If i pick a theme that doesn’t allow widgets i get the “no sidebars defined” page.
If i take them out one by one, i have to go through ALL the themes?
-
You can filter for themes that don’t have widgets. Or you can just take out all your widgets.
-
i cant find an option to remove all widgets. I’ve already removed all other widgets except flickr which is the one i “lost” on a previous theme.
-
i tried the themes one by one and checked if my flickr widget was there. I found mine under andreas09. lucky me. There is a another thread with the same issue. It’s a sticky “Missing Widgets”. Thanks for your help raincoaster.

This doesn’t work for me. The widgets show on my old theme (Vermillion Christmas) but they are not showing on my dashboard. I cannot edit them. What in the world is happening?
Any suggestions? -

(That’s the answer that applies – my original post in this thread was before we realized the new complication that came about with the implemaentation of wp. 2.7.)
