Widgets not Appearing on Pages

  • Unknown's avatar

    That’s about it.
    I have made sure that each page specifies 2 column layout.
    I have triple checked my appearance>widgets to be sure the ones I want have been move to the ‘activated’ side of that page.
    I have double checked that I hit the accept/engage (whatever that button was!) for each widget.
    After first adding the widgets, they appeared on one page; now I can’t find them (i’ve checked every page…I think…I’ll go be sure again)
    I have searched the forum/help site.
    I am now stuck.
    Help… :-(
    Thanks in advance!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    We can’t tell if we can’t see the blog. If you wish, you can go to Settings > Privacy and temporarily switch to the middle option so we can check things. Otherwise you’ll have to wait for a staff reply.

    Thanks, justpi.

    But I’m not ready to open the site (I’m fine with anyone here seeing it under construction, but need to have it a bit more together before it is made available to the www).

    Also, I’m not sure how that would help, as you would see no second column/no widgets on each page…unless you can access my dashboard?!

    Guess I’ll have to wait, but I appreciate the help.

    Switching to the middle privacy option for, say, 15 minutes, won’t make the blog public: only the very few people who will read this thread will be able to (temporarily) visit it.

    I can’t access your dashboard, but I can examine the code of your blog. Plus the issue might be theme dependent. So if you’re not willing to open the blog, then at least tell me which theme you’re using. Also, are you talking about static pages (the ones you create in Pages > Add New) or dynamic pages (such as your main page or a category page)?

    Unless we can see the theme in question and what you have done you are asking us to work in the dark. Our themes at WordPress.com are not cookie cutter themes. They are all differently designed. Most of the older themes have sidebars on each and every page in the blog, but newer themes like Twenty Eleven as an example don’t nessacrily display a sidebar on each and every page or on posts when displayed on their own pages.

    Also note that you can change your privacy settings to option 2 and keep out search engines while we have a brief look at the blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ But if that’s not what you want to do then maybe your best best is as justpi suggests ie to get all your support from Staff as they can view private blogs. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    @justpi
    I did a search. This blogger was using Twenty Eleven yesterday.

    @pacificchristianschool
    If you are still using Twenty Eleven please click the link and read justpi’s comprehensive article on exactly how that theme is coded to operate. Note that Twenty Eleven ahs no sidebar on single posts when the title of the post is clicked and the post is displayed on its own page.
