Widgets not showing up on home page but viewable on second 'about' page?

My widgets are not showing up on my homepage but are visable on my second ‘about’ page. This means it is really difficut to navigate through my blog. How can I edit the widgets on only one page but not the other? Why are they not showing up automatically on both pages?
