Widgets not updating
-
Okay, this is a weird one…
I changed some wording in two of my menus but when I updated, instead of the Navigation Menus in my widget sidebar showing these changes (as they do in the top menu) the altered items have disappeared altogether!
I’ve tried removing the old menu and replacing them with new ones to no avail; same with replacing the widgets too. I also cleared the cache and cookies which also had no effect.
Any ideas please?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I changed some wording in two of my menus but when I updated, instead of the Navigation Menus in my widget sidebar showing these changes (as they do in the top menu)
Aside from the Header menu, the Ixion theme that’s applied to your site has only one other available menu location, also in the header area, and it supports only a Social Links menu. So it’s not clear what menus you’re referring to. Do you mean a Navigation Menu Widget?
Outside of the Navigation Menu Widget, other widgets in your sidebar are unconnected to the primary menu. Changing words in a widget has no effect upon any menu. Secondly, the only wording that can be changed in a Navigation Menu Widget is the words of its title.

What kind of widgets, specifically, are you referring to? For example, Links Widget, Navigation Menu Widget, etc.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. I shall elaborate.
I changed the wording in two of my category titles (under Films and Wrestling) which was reflected in the top menu bar, so when I click on the link in the menu bar everything is on display as it should be. To wit:
But instead of the Navigation Menus in my widget bar on the right hand side of the page updating to reflect these changes, the links have now disappeared completely:
As you can see, the only category that I didn’t change (Anime) has been was left untouched in the Navigation Menus.
So, my objective is to get the links in the Navigation Menus back to as they were before. I’m not sure why this has happened – or even when if I’m frank – but refreshing/clearing the cache, and cookies, deleting and replacing the widgets, etc. hasn’t worked.
I hope that is clearer now. Thanks for reading.

Somewhat clearer, thanks. However, I still don’t know what kind of widgets you’re using in the sidebar, because I’m a volunteer and don’t have access to your administrative areas.
If I wanted to display the primary menu in the sidebar on Ixion, I’d probably use a single Navigation Menu Widget, but it looks like you have multiple widgets in the sidebar containing various categories of posts, not one. Correct me if I’m wrong.
If you use multiple navigation menu widgets in the sidebar, each containing a different category and its subcategories, then you’d necessarily have to create a separate menu for each one, AND each of these menus would be independent of the others. A menu widget will only reflect changes in the primary menu if it is set to display the contents of the primary menu at “Select Menu” in the widget customization options, and a menu widget set to display the primary menu will display the entire menu.

Its okay, I’ve sorted it.
I clicked the customise button for my theme and looked into the “menus” section and it showed the amended links were now “invalid”, so I added them again and all is copacetic.
Thanks for responding and the help. :-)
