widgets not working
-
Hi,
I am using the theme http://www.ezwpthemes.com/templates/commute-reader.html for my blog.I have a problem. I am able to drag and drop widgets into the sidebar in Appearance ->Widgets. But the widgets are not appearing on the page on the sidebar.
All items displayed in the sidebar are coming from code in sidebar.php
Can someone please help me resolve this?
Thanks,

Hello there,
At the bottom of the theme you have posted the link for you see this:Proudly powered by WordPress.org
This is wordpress.com and that theme cannot be uploaded into the wordpress.com blog linked to your username. We run on different software at wordpress.com. There is no FTP access to wordpress.com blogs and they have no plugins. So you are definitely not using that theme on a wordpress.com blog. The only themes we wordpress.com bloggers can use are found here > Appearance > Themes.
The sticky post at the head of the forum makes the differences clear > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1
If you need more clarity then here’s the link from the front page of the support documentation > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

The correct support forum for those who have hired a web host and downloaded free software from wordpress.org is here > http://wordpress.org/support/

Hey, I am using it on a blog that is self hosted on a .com domain name. I’ve installed this wordpress theme there…

I think you are confused. In fact I know you are please read on …
Example 1
I also have blogs on domains. The one linked to my username is a domain that’s being domain mapped from the root blog here at wordpress.com and it’s still free hosted by wordpress.com.I cannot upload anything into it – there is no FTP access. Here at wordpress.com is where I can get support for that blog because it’s free hosted by wordpress.com
Example 2
I have another blog that’s also on it’s own domain and is also being domain mapped from the root blog here at wordpress.com. I pay to have it hosted by A Small Orange. It’s equipped with a wordpress.org software install like yours. It has FTP access and can and do upload themes and plugins into it like you do.
Can I get support for that blog here at wordpress.com? NO because it’s not being free hosted by wordpress.com.
I have to go to http://wordpress.org/support/ for support and so do you.

Importing themes into wordpress.com that is not provided by wordpress itself could be the cause of your case because I experience similar difficulty until I finally chose one of the best theme and then changed the header to a more customized header. Here’s is my link: http://hephzibahonline.wordpress.com
