Widgets Not Working
-
Hello – I am trying to paste a widget from ShopStyle into my blog and then it only shows the code and the picture does not pop up unless I click on that portion of the hyperlink.
Could you help?
I was going to buy the domain for $99, but if this will not work, I will have to go to another platform that these will work. -
Since you haven’t provided us with a link to the site you need help with, I’ve given you the answer relevant for sites hosted on WPcom.
Many types of code are not allowed here on WordPressdotcom because we are all on a shared environment. You can learn more about that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
I did find a year-old Staff reply about using ShopStyle in a post, but I do not know if it will help you. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/fashion-blog-widget?replies=14#post-2263306
WordPressdotcom’s advertising policy also prohibits using banner ads in your site’s sidebar. You’ll want to read up on that here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/sponsored-posts/Buying the premium bundle does not change this.

Thanks, Jennifer!
I had seen that and couldn’t figure out how to get my code to work like that one. When I pasted in what the staffer replied with, it worked, but I couldn’t figure out how to make mine work.
Here is the link that I am trying to use to make the Widget. I’m not sure if I am supposed to delete some of it for it to work?

Hi again, no, that code will not work on WordPressdotcom. In the first Support doc I linked to above it mentions that you cannot use script or iframe here.
Again, without a link to the site you need help with, I cannot give you an accurate reply. Just to clarify, about 30% of the people posting here actually have standalone installs of the WP software and need to be supported elsewhere.
