widgets on front page, side bars disappeared

This happened about 6 mnths ago. My news/front page – the side bars have disappeared, no categories, search etc. On right side these have actually slid to 3/4 way down page. Other side has nothing. No recent articles widget etc. The articles are there (with some the formating is faulty, left margin cutting off words) I have so far tried deleting one widget (categories) then reinstating it but it still does not appear so I figure this is not the problem. I would appreciate knowing what has gone wrong. (In meantime have referred people to home page til can sort it.)

This sounds like it could be an issue with your widget visibility. You can read more about those settings here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility
Could you check the widgets in question and let us know if you have any visibility options set for them?

This has miraculously sorted itself now. Very odd. This is what happened last time, after about a day it came right.
Thankfully … and yes am aware of the visibility thing which is why went there first this time. Nevertheless is sorted for now so thanks for your help.
