Widgets on pages?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey bloggers :)
I’ve recently added a ‘home’ page to my blog (himynameisami) and was wondering if there’s any way to put widgets on this (static) page?
If there is, please explain slowly, I’m awful at all of this haha- you may have seen my anger and frustration at myself from earlier questions!

    Thanks in advance
    Ami x

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    No

Widgets are for the sidebar (or footer on Theme’s so equipped for footer Widgets) only

In some themes you can have widgets displaying on every page and in others you can’t. In some theme widgets are displayed in sidebars and in some in footer areas, etc. See here please > Sidebars and other widget areas: number and position

You are using the Bueno theme which includes a unique widget: “Bueno Featured Posts”. Activating this widget allows you to showcase some posts in the sidebar. (You can add the widget to one of the footer cells instead of the sidebar.)

I’d like to have “Recent Posts” widget show on each page I create – not just the main or home page where I see it now. Is that possible in Twenty Eleven? How can I know whether or not I have features with a theme?

If can only put the widget on the main page is the Footer option for widgets any different? Will it only show on the main page?

One more to sneak in – what is an “inactive sidebar” and what is it’s functionality?

On twenty eleven, the sidebar will show on static pages (pages you create) unless you specifically choose not to have the widgets display by activating the “no-sidebar” page template in the attributes module of the page editor.

Sidebar will also show on tags, categories and archive pages.

Single post pages (after clicking a post title or comment link) do not show a sidebar. There is no way to change that.
