Widgets or pages???
-
Ok so I have been working on this way too long. And now I simply don’t know the difference. I want to add our products by category to our page, but I don’t know if I use widgets to get there, or make pages, niether of which I know how to do. I would say a LITTLE help is needed but honestly at this point, I need a LOT of help!!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Pages are described here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
Widgets are described here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/category/widgets-sidebars/ -
P.S. I strongly suggest removing the background image from the blog as it makes it next to impossible to read the text.

WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions with shopping carts and no blogger initiated advertising or paid or sponsored content is allowed. The only things you are allowed to sell on WP.com blogs are products that you, yourself create and/or services that you personally provide. For an online store with a shopping cart you need an independently hosted blog using WordPress.ORG software.
http://wordpress.orgFor selling only your own creations and/or only service you personally provide on a free hosted WordPress.com blog see http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/If and only if you are marketing only what you create and you already have a online shop with a shopping cart somewhere else online you can create a custom menu and add a custom link to it.

ok I think I can tell the difference, still not sure what exactly a widget is used for, but it sounds like pages is what I want not widgets. And I went with my original background, and I can read it so I hope everyone else can as well, thank you for your help, this probly won’t be the last time I’m here :)

Widgets are only for sidebar or footer areas. You want Pages. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#create-a-new-page

Ok then, I don’t even know what to say. Let’s just say I assume you went to my page, hence the get rid of the background, but did not read anything, or you would have understood that this is a mother daughter effort, making and hopefully selling the creations we PERSONALLY make by hand. I apologize for coming off like a complete idiot, I truly do not understand any of this, and the more I mess with it, the worse it gets. I clearly stated to wordpress via email what I wanted and my ultimate goal was/is, and was given 3 links for assistance. Paypal, support, and forums. I’m still no further this morning than I was days/weeks ago, thanks for you help.

You are right. When I first visited the busy background made it impossible for me to read the text. I can read it now that you have removed it.

We cannot create your Page for you. We can only provide the link to the instructions for how to create a Page and I did that above.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/We cannot post the PayPal button on the page you create for you. We can only provide the instructions for doing that and I already did that above. For selling only your own creations and/or only service you personally provide on a free hosted WordPress.com blog see http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/Apparently Staff already provided the same links so all I can say at this point is please follow the instructions at the links provided and I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up.

To answer your original question, it depends on what you want to accomplish.
Posts are dated content, like blog posts, and can have associated categories. If you use categories, each category will have a separate “archives” page that lists all posts with a given category.
Pages are for static content, like your About us page or Contact us page.
Widgets are for sidebar/footer content, and generally appear on every page or post of a blog, though where (or if) a widget will appear is determined by the theme.
This link explains the difference between posts and pages:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/And this one explains widgets:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/While you are welcome to create your site with us, timethief is correct that we do not have shopping cart functionality on WordPress.com, so if your plan is to create a lot of different product listings for sale, you would likely be better off with a self-hosted WordPress site using the software at WordPress.org. If you do that, then you can add a shopping cart plugin to your site.
