Widgets, viewing requirements, accessible to everyone?

I have 5 widgets on my blog, including sonific. I am concerned with the ease of access or speed that viewers will have. My number one priority is for the blog to be easily accessible to anyone all over the world; meaning that I want people from rural internet cafes with the basic of equipment to not have any trouble looking at my site.

My question; Do widgets slow down the viewing experience of those with lesser computers?
It occurred to me that this might particularly be the case for the music widget, sonific. Does this depend on whether music is actually playing or just having it there, without it playing?

Thank you for your help and advice.

PS. I have the del.icio.us widget supposedly – but I can’t see it on the site. IS this normal?

Dynamic widgets, videos, and large images will indeed slow down your blog. Yes, I can confirm the sonific widget is guilty of that effect on slow connections.

There’s a bug with the delicious widget currently.
