widgets wipe out links
-
I tried adding an RSS links widget to my blog, but when I do, it erases all my links in the same column. Is this an issue with the theme I’m using (Cutline)? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Every theme has a default display of widgets. As soon as you added the RSS widget your choice overrode the default display. Now all you have to do is drag and drop the widgets of your choice into the sidebar. -
Could I pick this post up, as I’ve just discovered this problem with my latest blog.
I’m using iNove as it had a lovely set of widgets there and the layout was just what I needed for this particular purpose.
The problem is as above. I just want to add a Recent Comments widget and that action deletes the set provided. I understand I just have to put them back – but of the given ones, one is not available to put back: Random Posts. Can you help please?

That is how iNove works. It’s built into the theme’s structure.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/random-post-widget?replies=11If you remove all your custom widgets, you will get the random posts back again.
But you can’t have both. -
Thanks 1tess – I did search but didn’t come up with this. Will have a think – but actual random stories being listed right there is probably more valuable than being able to read comments (in a bedtime story blog at any rate!) so I’ll probably miss on the comments – they show if you click on a particular story header anyway, if anyone is desperate enough to read them! But iNove does display the comments really nicely… alternately left and right.
I guess WP won’t make random posts available as a widget because most blogs wouldn’t make sense that way.

Oh, I don’t know. They would make sense. I would like random posts on my cooking blog…
Here is a Google search tip:
Type this in the Google search bar:
“search term here” site:https://en.forums.wordpress.com/
I could recall the discussion and had bookmarked it, but I have too many bookmarks all unorganized.Recent comments work on my blog where information does not go out of date quickly. I don’t know, if I had to choose recent comments or random posts which I’d choose.
The random posts might show readers things they didn’t know they were interested in.
