Widgets won't disappear

  Hi there—

  I attempted to remove the initial widgets on my site in order to remove the sidebar completely, but even when the widget area is empty in the dashboard the original four widgets still appear on my site.

  I have tried re-adding these initial widgets and then ‘deleting’, as well as dragging them out of the widget box so that it is empty, but still the original widgets remain.

  The only change happens is when I put another widget there, but I want there to be *no widgets* and no sidebar.

  Please help!
