widgets….what R they & how can they help my blog????

  Hi all,
  I’m fairly new to the blog world. Can someone explain–in English–what widgets are and how they work? Thanks!

  They are simply the bits of code needed to do certain things. For example, you add a calendar widget, and -voila – a calendar appears in your blog. You don’t have to worry about how, just add or remove the ones you want.
  Try them out. No harm can be done, and you can remove them just as easily.

  Thanks ellalella, I had found that page previously and lost it somehow. I’ve had a devil of a time figuring them out as well. From browsing the columns it seems I was installing the flickr during a time it was giving errors to many people, here I thought it was just me!
