wierd text below footer

On the site, there is a page under the posts section, when you view the page as a draft it looks normal. When you preview the page there’s a whole bunch of extra text that appears. I’d link to the page but the extra text is sensitive (its a CV/Resume) we’re not sure how it got there or how to get rid of it.

    Any pointers please?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – We’d like to try to help. I looked through the pages but wasn’t able to find the example you’re hinting at. Is there another way you can comfortably identify that page so that we can know where to look? Thanks!

Because of the sensitive nature of the content, the author would rather not have that published for the 2orld to see, but I could pm you a link to the page . Is PM possible on this forum?

If I use the F12 tools to inspect the markup, I can see that there is a section, above which, there is this html comment: <!– .entry-footer –>
On the affected page, there is also a div like this:
<div class=”author-bio responsive-max-width”> which unsurprsingly has a resume in it. Its this resume text that we need removed.
There is only one affected post left now, as the author has re-written the other one! If you can find the page that goes by the name “In Praise of Wolves” (note, there is also a page with the same name).

  • Hi there,

I was able to check the post you are referencing and that is indeed odd. So, I copied the code and posted it on my test site to see if the extra text below the post would appear when I previewed it, and it didn’t.

So, what I would suggest is copy the entire post content via the code editor and post it in an entirely new post to see if the random text still appears. If it is anything like what happened on my end, it shouldn’t.

Let me know if that works, thanks!

Thanks, the administrator has done that already with one post. I think that will be her plan in future, if that happens again.

Doing a bit of research, it looks like she has that information set in her WordPress.com user profile.

To remove that, she will need to log into her WordPress.com account and edit the “About Me” section of her profile here:

    https://wordpress.com/me

The author profile that’s in your particular theme will pull that “About Me” information into posts made by those authors, so you can use that to add more details after each post by modifying your own “About Me” section.

    I hope that helps!

    Thankyou, that sounds logical.
    I’ll ask her to look
