Wild West Domains

  I want to relink my domain name (www.sixyeargapyear.com) to my blog, but I can’t access it. I own it, but when I try to link it to my blog it says it’s already owned, and if I try to transfer it it wants some information from the registrar. It says the registrar is Wild West Domains, but I can’t log into their website, when I try to reset my password it sends me to GoDaddy, but they don’t have my domain. Is Wild West Domains a scam? Have they somehow bought my domain?

  Hi! It appears that the last time sixyeargapyear.com was renewed by you was in 2021, which would have renewed it through 3 September 2022. In 2022, it does not appear that it was renewed by you. This means that it would have gone through the expiration and deletion process which is standard when a domain is not renewed. We do have a guide regarding domain expiration where you can find a more detailed explanation of how that goes.

  As it is, that means that following the expiry of sixyeargapyear.com on 3 September 2022, it would have gone through the redemption and deletion periods, and eventually been released back to the public for anyone to register. It sounds possible that someone else did register it between then and now; which is why it isn’t available for you.

  GoDaddy and Wild West Domains are the same company; WWD is the less public-facing side of things but they are legitimate and it looks like sixyeargapyear.com is indeed registered through them at this time – it definitely isn’t with WordPress.com.
