Hi there,
Will this subdomain on WP immediately indexed by google, given the good trustworthiness of my main site? Or it will be considered completely new and everything will need to start from scratch?
Each subdomain is treated as a separate domain by Google, so the indexing process begins anew .
However,WordPress.com does not have any control on Google index. Content can sometimes take days or weeks to appear in Google search results.
Hope this helps! :)

Hi!
Thanks for your reply. So it all depends on luck? I was told that if the main site is configured sitemap and add links to articles from the blog subdomain – then such a blog will be indexed immediately.

Hi there,
The site at the subdomain will be a completely new site, so like any new site it will take a while to get indexed. The fact that the root domain is already indexed will definitely help, but it’s much more important that the new site has high quality, original content for Google to index, and of course that the new site itself is also properly configured in terms of SEO (if you create the new site with us on WordPress.com, we handle that configuration for you automatically, but if you’re using the self-hosted version of WordPress you might need a plugin like Yoast SEO to set that up).
Also make sure you verify the new site in Search Console, and upload the new site’s sitemap there. It’s not required for a site to be indexed, but it can help speed up the process.

It sounds like you’re speaking of backlinks, i.e. your main site linking to the new site? Having other sites linking to content on the new site definitely has an impact, but that impact has to do more with how highly your content is ranked in search results, once it’s indexed. Backlinks are not a way to get content indexed instantly :)

No, I meant have a sitemap on the main domain, we have it configured. Do I understand correctly that if the main site is not on WP, and we will do a subdomain on it, we need to install a plugin for SEO and wait a while until it is indexed?

You don’t necessarily need a plugin for SEO. A plugin will only speed up the indexing process.
AS @kokkieh already said, if you host that site here on WordPress.com, you won’t need a plugin, as WordPress.com sites are SEO optimized. You can read more here:
