Will changing a post slug result in a redirect?
-
I’ve been updating some blog content, and changing the post slugs to make them more SEO friendly. Just wondering, will links to the old URLs be redirected, or are they lost forever?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Permalink structure cannot be changed on any wordpress.COM hosted site You can modify the post slug (or page slug). https://en.support.wordpress.com/slugs/
Have you read the relevant support documentation at these links I post below?

Hi there,
The links should still be redirected after you change the slug – same if you change a post’s publication date – but it doesn’t always work like it’s supposed to so it is risky.
Also keep in mind it might take a while before this has any effect on your SEO, and you might even see search traffic drop for a bit – the new URLs will need to be re-indexed with search engines, and if you check your site somewhere like Google’s Search Console you might see broken link errors for the old versions of the URL for a time.
