Will changing themes affect the formatting of my blog?

  If I have an existing blog but want to change the theme, will I have to reformat any part of my blog? Or will everything transition correctly from one theme to another? If there is the possibility that things may not transition correctly, is there a way to save the blog prior to changing themes so I can return to the original theme without any problems?

  It both depends on the theme you choose, and the format (text and image sizes) or your post. You can easily switch themes to see which one fits best to your blog. Please note that widgets will be lost/reset whenever you change the theme.
