Will domain mapping increase traffic?

  I am considering buying a domain name for my blog and mapping it to the blog. I understand how to do this, but I was wondering if it would actually increase exposure and/or traffic, or if it just makes the name more convenient.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  It’s just the address that changes, this might get you a higher google ranking maybe though, not sure. A higher google rank means more traffic.

  wont increase your blog rank and traffic is popular and relevant
  content,
