Will Google Photo Library be supported in the new editor?
-
I heavily rely on Google Photos for storing all my photos and images and have grown to depend on that for my authoritative source for images (and pay for it, too). But right now it looks like only the classic editor allows you to easily search your Google photo library and insert them into your content and/or as the feature image.
Without that easy insert option, it becomes much more cumbersome to add in new photos. Is there a plan to support Google Photos moving forward with the new editor?

Hi designbymichael,
Is there a plan to support Google Photos moving forward with the new editor?
Google Photos aren’t currently integrated into the new editor but it’s something our developers are looking in to — I’m unable to give you any timeframes at this stage but I’ve passed on your interest for this feature being added :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Having first made it really difficult to insert from G.Photos, then leaned on us to use the G.Photos integration in the old editor (because it doesn’t in Classic from wp-admin), you’ve now foisted a half-finished Gutenberg on us and taken functionality away.
Did nobody in management think this is seven shades of STUPID?????
When are you going to fix it? Come on, release number and date…

in the old editor, you can use the plugin Photo Express which works a treat. Unfortunately, the maker seems to have abandoned the plugin a long time ago, though it still works in WP 5, but you need the classic editor. I can’t understand that the demand for Google Photos integration is so small. It is the ultimate way of hosting images. Why is this so difficult tu understand for the makers of Gutenberg?

Hi there,
Just mentioning the Google Photos option has been available in the My Sites version of the block editor for a few weeks now.
@nicholsonkring, the plugin you’re speaking of is for the open source version found on WordPress.org, which is not the same thing as WordPress.com. On WordPress.com Google Photos is integrated directly into the media library, and does not require any plugins at all to use. It just hadn’t been added to the new editor yet at the time this thread was created.
