  If I upgrade to a subdomain, with my existing web address, will I be able to use WordPress themes for a blog?

  Custom themes cannot be uploaded to WordPress.com.

  You can use any one of the available themes we have under Appearance in your dashboard. If you’re CSS-savvy, you may want to look into purchasing the Custom CSS Upgrade to customize one of the themes we offer:
