will i lose my premium theme if i change themes?

I’m currently using a premium theme but am now thinking of changing it. will i lose the premium theme once i change it or is it stored for me (since i payed for it) to go back to if a new theme doesn’t work out?

I bought the portfolio theme in january but have seen a free theme which i think would suit the purpose of my blog better.
if i were to use the free theme, would i lose the portfolio theme completely and have to re-purchase it if the free theme didn’t work out for me?
