Will I lose “on the road” capabilities w/ domain mapping?
-
I’ve been quite enjoying the “portability” of my wordpress.com site… being able to simply make a post whenever, and wherever I am, from any computer.
Will I still be able to do that if I decide to use my own URL, instead of my @worpress.com URL?
Thanks,
e

That is, the answer to your headline is no. The answer to the question in your post is yes.

Yes -
So, I’m assuming all it does it “forward” my content to my personal URL? And I can log onto wordpress.com just like I do now, and all will be okey dokey?

PS, sry for the needling, I just want to make sure it does what I need it to before I plunk down the $.

Uploaded files are at yourblog.wordpress.com and staff have said that’s not going to change. But it doesn’t make any difference as to whether or not you can upload.
If you can get online, you can get to wordpress.com. If you can get to WordPress.com, you can sign in and blog. You can log in via yourblog.com/wp-admin or yourblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin and they are identical.

I’ve been using domain mapping for over a year, and all the answers above are right on. Yes, you can easily edit your blog as if it was @wordpress. One word of caution though for domain mapping: if you currently use an e-mail address you@yourdomain, you will have to do something to reroute this e-mail as your domain will not longer be “hosted” on your server, but on wordpress’ server. In order to avoid this, I created a sub-domain: http://blogue.dianebourque.com and rerouted my domain dianebourque.com to that subdomain. My domain mapping at wordpress was at http://blogue.dianebourque.com This did not affect my e-mail (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Good luck!

I hope that’s not your real email address. If it is, you are going to get all kinds of spam. Posting an email address in the forums is not a good idea.
