Will I lose search engine rankings moving to wordpress.org?

    I really want to move my wordpress.com site to wordpress.org but I am worried about losing views, followers and my search engine ranking, will people be able to find my new site through my old one or can I move my ranking to the .org site? and will I be able to transfer everything across? Including comments.

    You will probably lose some traffic. WordPress.com has excellent SEO that few self-hosted sites can match. When you add the tag-search and Reader aspects, WordPress.com offers a lot in terms of traffic and SEO.

    That having been said, there are many reasons that a self-hosted site can be a better fit for people. And having an established site and moving it to self-hosted is different than starting from scratch.
