Will I lose the WordPress.com version if I upgrade to a paid plan?

    Hello,

I have a free blog hosted on wordpress.com and am thinking of taking a paid plan with a custom URL purchased through WordPress itself. Will I lose the wordpress.com site by doing so? Is it possible to keep it and just put a redirect to the custom URL?

    Thanks

  • Hi, upgrading to any of our plans won’t affect your site’s content and layout. If you register a custom domain name, we’ll automatically configure it to point to your current site.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to help.

Many tthanks for your reply. That’s very helpful.

  • Glad that helped! If you have any more questions about our upgrades we’re happy to help clarify those as well. Typically we recommend our Personal Plan if cost is an issue, since it is our lowest cost plan, and will let you change your site address as well turn off the ads we show on free sites (to help cover our costs.)

I see you actually have this plan in your cart, and since you chose the yearly version of the plan it includes a free domain for the first year. For a little extra savings I’ve added a coupon in the cart as well, and you will see the reduced total if you look here: https://wordpress.com/checkout/kreolrepiblikmoris.wordpress.com

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
