Will import overwrite current posts ?
-
I’ve somehow ended up with two very similar blogs.
One on WordPress on Azure web sites and one here, both have quite a number of posts the same but there are some on azure that are not here.
I want to ditch the azure blog and just use the wordpress blog.Q. If I export from the azure site, then do an import here, will wordpress simple overwrite any posts that are the same or will it import them all as different posts ?
I tried to test it on a test blog, but the first import is still running after a couple of days, so much for that idea……
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Does Azure run on WordPress software? Does the Azure site have the same permalink structure as WordPress.com posts have? I don’t see it here http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/ as a source that we can import from. I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. I managed to work out a work around.
I found you can export certain date ranges, so i found up to what point they were similar, then exported what was missing.
then started going through the posts month-by-month, using the filter in all posts view, to make sure everything was there.i think i got most of it.

@timethief – you can create a web site on Azure using many different blogging platforms, WordPress is one of them.
Once installed, it uses the /wp-admin just like any other wordpress site. -
It looks like the importer got stuck on you. I’ve reset it, so if you have more files to import you should be able to do it now.
Let me know if you run into any more trouble!
