will lots of photos make followers e mailsv. slow to open ?

  I have put a load of pictures in a post and wondered if this proved problematic for followers who get an e mail with the blog embedded. I.e. will it take them forever to open the e mail becauase of the number of phots? Thanks

  Hello!

  Inserting a large number of pictures in a post may have been problematic in the past, but for users with broadband, this shouldn’t create a problem these days. Post away!

  Although @agent5959 is technically correct my rural broadband is extremely poor. I know photographers tend to prefer them but .png files are often up to ten times larger than an almost-identical .jpg image. As your site grows as the months progress it still could help your viewers if you ensure that images are optimized for the web before you upload them to your site. (And your 3GB allowance in your Media Library won’t fill up so quickly either).

  Thanks both. Great to know it should be OK. I will definately look to optimise my images though, if only to make best use of my allowance.

  Remember you were originally talking about followers getting emails of new posts. My WebMail crashes with anything larger than 4Mb. So one post from you with six .png images of over 1Mb each wouldn’t work for me. Even people with Superfast Broadband still might not have infinite storage for their email. There are phones to consider these days too.
