Will my blog appear if Google search is Australia Pages only
-
I want to blog about my Australian emotional intelligence coaching service using a wordpress.com blog.
I want to know whether,if someone enters relevant search terms (eg coaching/emotional intelligence) in Google and then applies the “Pages from Australia” filter if my blog will rank or be excluded because I have an American host.
AND – as a follow up question – if it doesn’t list is there an option of having an Australian host when using wordpress.com as opposed to wordpress.org?

You’ll have to ask Google about that – their method for determining what country a web site belongs to is mysterious and not terribly accurate. It doesn’t seem to relate to the host or domain.
You can register a .com.au domain and use it with your WordPress.com blog. You’ll need to register the domain with an Australian registrar, then buy a Domain Mapping upgrade at WordPress.com. There are a couple of steps involving DNS to do that but support staff can help.

Oh, it just occurred to me: you can use Google Webmaster Tools to set your site’s country.

Here’s how to use Webmaster Tools with a WordPress.com blog:
