Will my blog followers be notified when a new comment is posted on the site or…?
-
Hi,
Will my blog followers be notified when a new comment is posted on the site or will they only be notified if a new blog post is posted?
If not, how can I notify them when a new comment is posted so they can follow the comments?
Thank you for any insight anyone can provide on this. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, your readers can manage that setting here:
https://wordpress.com/following/manageThey can click on “settings” by your site, then toggle “Email me new comments” if they’d like.
They also have the option to be notified if someone responds to one of their comments. That setting is here:
https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/comments -
Thank you very much for your help. The follow-up question is: will my readers need to have a WordPress account in order to “click settings and choose “email me new comments” or no?

Yes, they need a WordPress.com account as this option is part of the WordPress.com Reader.

Hmm. OK because the idea is to have readers notified when a new comment/testimony is posted. So if readers of the blog don’t sign up for a wordpress account they will not be able to be notified when a new comment is posted?
Will I need to post each new comment as a separate blog post for the readers (who for some reason can’t or won’t get a wordpress account) for the readers to be able to see the new comment/testimony that is available? -
For users without a WordPress.com account, you can use the Follow Blog Widget so that they receive an email with any new post that you publish:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
For comments, they can subscribe to receive an email if they leave a comment and check the “Notify me of follow-up comments via email” box.

Thank you.
Ok next 2 questions are:
1) how do I center the “sign up” box (on the sidebar) since it’s on the left but I’d like it to be centered.
2) Also, is there a way to change the way the Stats are computed so that the Stats don’t count as “page views” when I’m viewing my site on the inside (trying to tweak it)?

Each theme has designated widget space and you can rearrange those widgets by clicking on My Sites – Customize – Widgets
To make any further changes beyond what the above function allows for you would need to upgrade to the premium plan so you could access the theme’s css.

If you’re signed in to your user account in the same browser that you’re viewing the site from, these views should not get counted.
