Will my business email stay intact when I forward my domain?
-
I’m looking for help to make sure my yahoo business e-mail tranfers properly. I want to forward my already owned, domain name, to a word press business site. Before I jump in, I want to make sure this won’t be a problem.

If you’ve mapped a domain to your WordPress.com blog, you can use Custom DNS records to make your domain compatible with other services not hosted at WordPress.com, such as an email provider. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/ WordPress.com does not provide an email service for domains. What’s used is setting up email with Google Apps. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/add-email/@beecricket
On these support forums we post into threads only when we have answers to the questions being posed. Please respct that convention. -
@beecricket – domain mapping will crash an existing email service. Your advice was very bad – advising someone with a business to crash their email would put them out of touch and tends to produce panic
@stephaniesherie – as noted above there are methods to deal with email and domain mapping – however you will need to get help from your existing email provider in your case it looks like yahoo mail – some DNS records will need to be changed and WordPress.COM does not know what records need to be changed to make your old email work – you should be able to use your old provider but caution is advised – I use my old host for my email here for my mapped domain but the switch required some head scratching and some help. Each system is a bit different and that is why WordPress.COM does not provide direct support – they have helped a bit in the past with formatting of the records once the information is gotten from the email provider .
