Will my domain name show up in the address bar after mapping it?

Does domain mapping mean my personalised website name wont show up in the address bar? i would like to use my current domain as my wordpress domain (ie http://www.mydomain.co.uk not http://www.mydomain.wordpress.co.uk) but im worried that if i follow the instruction to map it, and a user types my personalised domain in the address bar, then http://www.mydomain.wordpress.co.uk would appear. what is the best way to solve the issue? i am a first time blogger and wordpress user so please be thorough and patient with me many thanks

Yes, your domain will show up in the address bar.Long answer:
You can actually select either to show up in the address bar. When you have mapped the domain you will have two entries under domains, and you can select either as the primary.When one is selected as a primary this will always appear in the address bar, even if people follow old links. For example someone following
http://westernhindu.wordpress.com
will actually see http://western-hindu.org/ as the address in the address bar
