Will not respect line shift when editing

When I edit a post, the system sometimes changes my post. The line shift between two text passages disappear – but only in quotes.
How do I stop that? It happens – I guess – because I transfer some preformatted text from the newspaper I am quoting? The “Code” option does not reveal what it is. I really would appreciate some tips from some of you fine people. :mrgreen:

Well here’s my non-scientific and non-technical approach. I go here -> Users -> Profile and uncheck the box for the visual rich text editor then click “Update Options” to save. Next I edit the post in the standard editor and make adjustments there and then click “save” or “publish” as appropriate.
