Will referal spam links affect my standing with Google
-
I have read a lot of things in this forum about the referal spam that seems to be at an all time high lately. I have had 15 referals today from just one spam link on one of my postings. What i’d like to ask please is, will this affect my standing with Google if a spam link is continually going on one of my posts. Will my post then seem like spam to Google? I don’t click on the links, and it’s frustrating because Google only indexed me today and now i have this annoying spam link repeatedly hitting on one of my post. I dread to think what the number of hits will be by the end of the day.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Since first writing the above it has now increased to 25. I have reported the links to staff, as that seems to be the advice, and i would be quite happy to ignore these irritating spammers if i can be sure my blog is not going to be affected by them in ANY way. Can someone reassure me on this at all? Thank you

Hello there,
Have you read what Mark and Markel said this thread?
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/whats-up-with-all-the-spammy-referrers?replies=27#post-508975See also https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/tons-of-hits-from-spam-domain/page/3?replies=25#post-549387
What Staff has done is create a filtering system. They have also asked that we do not post forum threads on this issue but instead contact them directly. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Yes i read those and i contacted staff as i’ve already said above. I was asking a perfectly normal question but it seems i won’t get an answer here.

@shanaderyn
This is a peer support forum and I am a Volunteer ie. your fellow blogger. I do not have a definitive answer nor does any other Volunteer. I’m sorry you chose to be offended but Staff have asked us to refer all members who post to the forum on this subject directly to them. If you will be kind enough to return to this thread and post whatever answer Staff do provide to you then we Volunteers will have it and we will share it with the members who post in the future. -
I understand what you are saying. I am sorry if i sounded off hand, it’s not aimed at you, i am just frustrated that i now have 25 hits on one post by the same spammer, i am getting them every 20 minutes. I will certainly post back here the answer i get from staff. Thank you for your time.

@shanaderyn
Not to worry – we are cool. :)I know what you are experiencing. For what it’s worth do know that some Volunteers are experiencing the same thing on their blogs too. :(

I’ve been spammed, too. :( It’s disheartening to see a comment or lots of referrals just to find out you’re being targeted by some evil form of digitized, canned meat…
Blech.

@cmhardin
SIGH I agree but Staff are doing what they can for us and that amounts to filtering. Please do not overact to this small question: But did you report this to Staff? http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ -
This is the answer i got from staff in reply to my question.
“Those spam referrers should not affect your standing with Google in anyway” -
@shanaderyn
YAY! We now have a definitve answer from Staff that we can link to. Thank so much for sharing it. -
And thank YOU timethief for your time and patience with an irritable woman such as me. Cheers ;)

@shanaderyn
Uou’re welcome. I can be irritable too. ;) We all have bad days and it’s good to make a new friend online. Onward and upward! :) -
I’ll read those links above, but want to add that I’ve had about 50 spam referrals today between both of my blogs. I hope wordpress is working to address this.

@erostubesocks
Yes, Staff are acting on this. This situation is merely an annoyance. It does not affect your blog’s standing with Google in any way.Staff have created a filtering system. They have requested that we do not click the spam refferer links because that is what the spammers want us to do. They have also requested that we do not post any referrer information into forum threads, but instead that we report all spam reffer links directly to them. If you have not reported the links directly to Staff please do that now. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
