Will restoring a deleted post from trash result in it being resent to followers?
-
I deleted a previously published post (Wardrobe Edit, published 12 jan) by accident. I would like to restore it from trash but don’t want to risk resending it to all of my followers as if it were newly published (this happened once when I switched a post to private and back again). If I restore the post will it essentially discreetly reappear in my post timeline history, or it will be newly circulated to followers ahd reshared on facebook etc as if I were publishing it for the first time?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I did a test and it does not appear that restored posts are re-emailed to followers. If you make edits to the post then I would expect it to be re-emailed and re-shared on Facebook, but I believe just using the restore option will not behave as a new post.
Best!

Hi, after reading the advice above I clicked on ‘restore’, but what it’s done is restore it to draft only, vs reinserting it back on my published blog timeline… so now I’m worried that my only option is to ‘publish’ again from draft, is that right? It would mean resending to all followers and I don’t want to do that, as obviously they’ve all had it before, 3 weeks ago… are there any other options? thanks…

Unfortunately the only way to move a post from draft form to published form is to publish it. As you noted, this will likely result in it being resent to your followers.

I wanted to add that you can prevent an individual post from being sent to Facebook, Twitter, and anything else you have set up through Publicize. You just need to edit the settings in the Publish box in the right-hand column to not include them:
