Will Site Stats ever be closer to a Google Analytic style?

    Site Stats versus Google Analytic’s:

First, I’m curious if wordpress.com will either be providing more options with the site stats as I have worked with self-hosted wordpress sites in .org that are on Google Analytics and it seems to provide a more “realistic” view of readership. With visitors versus views, etc.

I see various benefits with wordpress.com over self hosting, but I also see benefits on the other spectrum. So I’m curious if there will be new updates in the near future providing a better glimpse of readership and overall analytics. Or if it would be your recommendation that I move to self-hosting if I really want those additional customization options.

We’re always working on improving the features we offer at WordPress.com and I would be happy to pass along your feedback regarding site stats.

Right now, if having that kind of customization is important to you, I’d say going with a self-hosted installation of WordPress is your best bet. If you find that you prefer WordPress.com Site Stats or any changes that we potentially make in the future, you’re always welcome to move back to WordPress.com! :)
