Will the default wordpress link work after sub domain mapping ?

  Will the original link (xyz.wordpress.com) work after I have mapped it with a subdomain ? Just in case if the main domain is down, I would like the visitors to be taken to the xyz.wordpress.com.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
