Will upgrading loose my current site?

  I am considering upgrading to a basic plan to get a custom domain name. Will this void the current address? In other words, if someone searches for my current name.wordpress.com site will it still come to my page if I have a new domain name?

  Hi @brisanders! It’ll actually redirect your old address to the new one, while showing the correct, new address in the bar. This is important if you’ve got a lot of links out there to the old site address.
