Will wordpress answer my needs?

  Hello!
  I have a website that Iwish to create but I’m not really sure if wordpress can fit me.
  The general idea is that users can sign in to the site, and every one can create an event (with my authorization) and other users can check themselves in and even discuss in the event page. Actually it’s no an event but a call for people to group together for a cause.

  I think what you’re describing might be a better fit for a self-hosted blog using the free software from WordPress.org.
