Windows Live Writer Nightmare
-
I need some help – here’s the deal. My blog url is http://showmeoz.wordpress.com
Problem:
I was using my Dad’s computer for a month and began using Live Writer – probably an 09 version. Worked like a charm. Now I’m on my new Toshiba Laptop with LW – 2011 version and it will not open my pages, only posts. So I wipe that off and upload the ’09 version, it does the same thing, which is…When I try to retrieve pages from my blog, LW begins to search for them – then the following error message pops up
“The response to the wp.getPages method received from the blog server was invalid: Invalid response document returned from XmlRpc server”
The same thing happens when I use Open a Local Draft using the same steps as above.
So, I try talking to Win Live support – here’s what they suggest:
“Please try the solutions suggested at this website: http://www.mindtweaks.com/wordpress/?p=233”I don’t understand a single word.
Then I check WP support and find this “fix” –
“Invalid Response With PHP
Description: On blogs running PHP 5.2.2, trying to configure the blog in Writer gives the following error: Invalid Server Response – The response to the blogger.getUsersBlog method received from the weblog server was invalid. / Invalid response document returned from XmlRpc server (Also affects Writer Beta 1.)Reason and Solution: A bug in PHP 5.2.2 causes POST data to be dropped. See this bug report for more details. As a workaround, add the following line to the top of your xmlrpc.php file:
$HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA = file_get_contents(“php://input”);Might as well be Latin. How do I know if I’m running PHP 5.2.2 and how to I add the line to “..the top of your xmlrpc.php file”? I don’t know what that is or where that is or how to get there!
I’m a mess. Can someone give me some instructions in English? Please!

All I can suggest is to contact staff directly at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ .

Thanks, they’re looking into it for me. But as I suspected, LW support assumed I was talking about a .org wordpress blog. I told them this but after a week they still haven’t responded! It’s a race between wordpress support and lw support – my bet’s on wordpress!

Just an FYI for anyone who lands here because of a similar situation. WordPress support staff worked really hard (thank you so much, Andrew!!) trying to help me on this and we came up with a blank. So, I’m considering canning Live Writer all together! I hate MS “ribbons” anyway and their support staff bagged on me after about 10 seconds worth of nothing. WordPress wins hands down! Thanks guys.
