Wisdom

I woke up this morning thinking of the hard won lessons I have learned and the people that they effected. I was thinking about who I needed to apologize to and who I needed forgiveness from. I am so grateful for the blessings that I have right now. that in my 60’s I have finally manifested a good man and a comfortable life. I ( almost) feel guilty about it because I’m not sure I have earned it. Or is that how it really works?? I’d like to say I am wiser now, but if I had it all to do over again would I really choose to do things differently. I’m not so sure.
I was thinking about how little I cared for my darling father when I was in high school. Maybe its a common father daughter challenge. I remember my mother and I ignoring him so often. He was an alcoholic and cheated on my Mom. He was also extremely smart, hard working , clean and loving. He was proud of us both. My mother was a product of her parents too. Growing up in a big family during the depression. Her father drank and left scars on her legs from beatings. She felt out of control so she spent much of her adult life trying to control everything around her. She was smart and funny and beautiful, but her lessons too were hard ones. I feel we are all a product of the generations of lives before us. I’d like to think that my parents hear me when I ask them for forgiveness for the negative energy I smothered them with in my youth. I still feel that we communicate even though they have both been gone for so many years.
All of us are given a set of challenges to learn from. Forgiving those who may have hurt us and forgiving ourselves is the only way we can look back on our lives, take a deep breath and say to ourselves that we’ve learned something along the way. Older and wiser? Let’s hope so.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
