Wishing to change the website name that people will find me on

  Hi there,

  I’m wishing to change my website name. I have purchased a new website name and am looking to build my website on wordpress and maybe host it with another site.

  How easy is it to change the name from land connections.wordpress.com to http://www.whitelighthouse.com Or, do you advise me that I need start again.

  You cannot change the subdomain (name) of a site on WordPress.com. You may pay an additional fee to have the dot com of a site you have registered (with WordPress.com or another domain service) mapped to your current domain. whitelighthouse.com would automatically redirect to landconnections.wordpress.com.

  If you wish to have landconnections.wordpress.com be changed to whitelighthouse.wordpress.com, create the new site, if available, and export and import the content from the first site to the second and delete (or use the other for another purpose as deleting the site prevents that name from ever being used again) the older site.

  You can change any blog at WordPress.COM to whitelighthouse.com buy purchasing Domain Mapping – see below for the instructions – you do not need to start over
