Wishing to Migrate blog from mymiddleearth.com to wordpress.

Hello! I am currently co-running a site at wolfandfox.mymiddleearth.com and would like to migrate it to wordpress. Mymiddleearth currently runs on wordpress but it’s their own version of it with very limited features.
I’d like to know the process I have to go through to take my data on posts, pages, categories ect. over to a new wordpress site.Also the domain we would like wolfandfox.wordpress.com is currently held by an unused website that has undergone no use or customization since 2010 when it was created. Is there any chance that the domain may be cleared and open for use at all?
We would like to use that domain name as the site already there http://wolfandfox.wordpress.com/ is obviously not used at all. No posts have been made and no editing has been done to the default template.Thank you for all your help!

Does it allow you to create an Export file on the dashboard Tools page? If so, you can import it easily on the corresponding dashboard Tools page.
If someone owns a domain here, staff will not intervene to give it to someone else. I suggest you comment there and ask them for it. Many people get email notifications of comments, and the owner may respond to you that way.

Thank you! That’s exactly what I needed. I’ve got the export file now and just need to sort out the domain. I’m going to follow your advice and if there’s no response I’ll just go with another domain.

We do not recycle WordPress.com addresses, but you can map a custom domain to your WordPress.com site:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
