    Hi there!

WordPress.com does not accept incoming domain transfers at this time. The best way to set up your domain to point to WordPress.com is by changing your nameservers

It looks like the nameservers for this domain are:

    ns2.vpweb.com
    ns3.vpweb.com
    ns4.vpweb.com

    http://who.is/whois/griefcareservices.com

In order for the domain griefcareservices.com to direct to your blog drmalec.wordpress.com, you’ll need to change your nameservers to the following:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

If you’re not sure how, you’ll need to contact your registrar for assistance.

You can read more about domain mapping here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!

When I spoke to Vistaprint about the domain transfer they said “we don’t do that, you’ll have to transfer it into your name and then take the authorization code to your next place”. So, I now own the domain name and I have an authorization code. Are you telling me that my domain name, which I now own is unusable? My name: GriefCareServices.com is on my letterhead, business cards, notebooks, brochures, etc. I switched to WordPress because I thought it would provide more. What can be done about this?

    Hi there!

Your domain is definitely still usable. You’ll need to transfer your domain to another registrar such as 1and1 or GoDaddy.

Then we can set up your name servers and get your WordPress.com site up and running!

Let me know how I can help to get you set up!

Thank You! I’m completely clueless on this matter. I’ll attempt to transfer my domain name with GoDaddy and see how far I get. If you can assist me, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m currently in the middle of a big mailing campaign and all the items going out have GriefCareServices.com on them. I need this asap.
    thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

Of course! I definitely want to make sure you get your domain working properly. Here’s a guide from GoDaddy about transferring domains to them:

    http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/1592/transferring-domain-names-to-us

Once you’ve got the domain moved over there, just let me know and I can give you some directions for changing your name servers!

ok, I got the domain transfer through GoDaddy. they were very helpful. I did the NS1/NS2/NS3 thing and I changed my primary domain name in Word press to GriefCareservices.com and waited 24 hrs. Now when I click in my wordpress icon it says I’ve got some transfer pointing loop going on and I can’t even get into my dashboard to work on my website. Help!

    Hi there,

I checked your site, and everything is up and running with your domain: http://griefcareservices.com/

Right after you make domain changes, it can take up to 72 hours for the changes to take effect everywhere. That’s especially true on your own computer, where you accessed the domain before making the change. Your computer saved the old information about the domain, and the loop error is just because your computer hasn’t fully updated to catch the changes you made. But it should sort itself out in the next couple days. (In the meantime, new visitors like me are able to access your site at that domain.)

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks so much. I cleared my history and I was able to access it. when you went on, were you able to access the dashboard? I’m assuming that I can see it because I’m the creator.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

WordPress.com staff (like me) can access the dashboard to help you resolve issues with the site, but otherwise only you can access it. Regular visitors to your site won’t be able to access the dashboard. :)

Thank you so much for all your help. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your quick and simple responses for people like me who no idea what I’m doing. Now I’ve got another confusing question. I’ve got to put the symbol for trademark on my products. The small “TM” which sits up at the end of the name needs to put on every time I use my product name. How do I make that happen?

  • Unknown's avatar

You can add that trademark symbol to posts or pages on your site by using the “Special Character” button in the editor (it looks like an omega symbol, in the second row of icons).

After you click that button, you’ll get get a pop-up window with a bunch of special characters and symbols, and you can choose the trademark symbol from there. We have more information about that Special Character button here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#custom-characters

Geez! I can’t believe I missed that. Thanks, I’ll try to be more careful before I decide I can’t figure it out and bug you. Thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

It’s not a problem! Things always seem more obvious when you already know where to look. :)

If you like to search for the answers, there is a lot of information like that on our support site at http://en.support.wordpress.com/ . But if you get stuck you’re welcome to get in touch for more help. That’s what we’re here for!

I looked and looked but I can’t see how to setup an email address for people to contact me. The one attached to the profile is my professional one, but I wanted to setup an email address just for traffic for this website. I’d like it to be (email visible only to moderators and staff) or (email visible only to moderators and staff) or something like this. Can you have an email address with wordpress? Thanks so much.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yep! The simplest way to set up an email address with your domain name is with our email forwarding feature: Email Forwarding

If you’d like more complete email service, you can set up email with an email service provider and link it to your domain. We have more details about how to set that up here: Add Email

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Well, I”m back again. I have a twitter account and I’ve found some good websites I’d like to put on mine as resources for my visitors. I’ve contacted the owners via twitter and they have agreed for me to put their website on my resource page. How do I do that? Do I just write: http://www.wonderfulresource.com and that is it? Do I somehow use the “link” option? I’m not sure how to do this?
    Thanks again.
    Elaine

    Hi Elaine,

If you’d like to publish all of those on your resource page, you can add them directly to the page as links: Links

The Links section in your site’s dashboard is used a bit differently. For example, if you wanted to put a list of links to those other websites in your sidebar, you could add them to the Links section and then add the Links Widget to your sidebar. But if you want to add those links to a regular page, rather than the sidebar, you can add them as links using the method I mentioned above.

Let me know if you have any questions about how that works. :)
