with subdomain mapping, do I lose FTP?
-
Hello,
I’m looking at setting up a subdomain to web.supportivelistening.org. Before I do that, I want to double check a few things. From the support docs, it looks like if I map a DOMAIN then I’d lose my email (other than using google apps) and I’d lose FTP abilities.
If I map to a SUBDOMAIN,
* Can I keep using my provider hosted email, as is?
* Can I keep doing FTP to subdirectories on supportivelistening.org?
* Any other things I might lose if I map to a subdomain?WordPress rocks! Thank you,
Paul.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There isn’t alot information about this. All I could find is this: http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/
Maybe you should take this question directly to the staff using this form: http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
Sorry & Good Luck.

Random, because that’s what life is. -
Below is what I heard back from support. And so quick! thank you.
=============
> * Can I keep using my provider hosted email, as is?Yes, mapping a subdomain will not force you to change your DNS, so everything should still work as expected.
> * Can I keep doing FTP to subdirectories on supportivelistening.org?
Yes, but you will not have FTP access to your WordPress.com blog, even if it is mapped to a subdomain. This will not effect how you access everything else on your server via FTP.
> * Any other things I might lose if I map to a subdomain?
Nope, you should be all good.
Best,
Anthony
