Without upgrading…?

  Hi, I’m new to the forums.

  I have 2 concerns:

  1. On the navigation menu for the pages, I have a link titled “Upcoming Shows.” Normally this links to a page titled with the same name. However my idea is that upcoming shows will not be a static page but a blog post. How can I create a link directly from the navigation menu to a blogroll?

  Or, how can I link directly to the blogroll that viewers will see when they click on the “Home” link? If I am only limited to one blogroll (without upgrading) then I would like to use this one for the latest news on show dates.

  2. How can change the title of “Home” to a customized title, such as “Main” or “Latest News” ?

  3. Are these changes that I can possibly make if I downloaded the wordpress software package?

  1) You can use the new Menus functionality (I believe; I’m not terribly familiar with that) or you can use this:
  http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/header-tabs/

  2) Some themes will allow you to do this, and some won’t, if I’m recalling correctly. Try this:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

  3) what you can do with the external version of WordPress is limited pretty much only by your technical ability.
