wix migration

I’ve been trying to use the migration from Wix tool… and I’m having zero luck. When I attempt to connect the URL it simly says ‘oops something went wrong.’

Does anyone know, is a Wix import impossible or is there something going wrong that I can address?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for reaching out!

Migrating from Wix can be problematic because they use a closed system and do not provide a way on their end to export content to WordPress sites. This is clear on their export support page, which does not actually show you how to export anything, and just gives you reasons to stay

Because of this, our import tool is best described as a workaround and one that can have issues from time to time.

The error message you describe has been reported to our developers and they are investigating a fix but I will be honest in saying we are having difficulty in making headway. I apologize that this is standing in your way to moving your content on to our service.

On our end we will continue to do what we can to address this issue, and we are happy to update this post as soon as we have more info. In the meantime other WordPress site owners have reported success in using the “RSS Import” method discussed here: https://themeisle.com/blog/transfer-from-wix-to-wordpress/

If you give that method a try it should import most of your content (though not your visual design) over to our service. Please note that the above method relies on a 3rd party plugin that is not installed on WordPress.com by default. It is possible to add it, but that will require an upgrade .

Please let us know if you have any more questions.
